How to set the LED display parameters

With the widespread use of LED displays, people have an understanding of the basic knowledge of LED displays. The parameter setting of the LED display is the first step to use the LED display. Let’s take a look at the specific operation process.

Due to different manufacturers, the number of parameter items of their LED display screens is also different, but basically each display screen has more than 20 items. After analysis and classification, it can be divided into three types: core parameters, basic parameters and auxiliary parameters .

(1) Core parameters

The core parameter is the parameter necessary for the LED display, if it is set incorrectly, it cannot be displayed. The core parameters include 8 items including cascade direction, OE polarity, data polarity, LED display type, color, scanning mode, walking order and row order.

(2) Basic parameters
The basic parameters are the basic parameters of the LED display. If they are not set correctly, they cannot communicate, do not display, or display abnormally. Basic parameters include display width, display height, control card address, baud rate, IP address, port number, MAC address, subnet mask, gateway, LED display refresh frequency, shift clock frequency and line blanking time There are 12 items in total.

(3) Auxiliary parameters
Auxiliary parameters are parameters set for better display and control, including 4 items including control card name, communication display mark, brightness, and switching screen time.

For the configuration of basic parameters and auxiliary parameters, user input and selection boxes are provided. After user input and selection, connect to the display screen and set directly. As for the core parameters, you can use three methods: professional quick search, smart configuration, and external file configuration.

Among the three configuration methods of core parameters, intelligent configuration is the focus of this article, and its main processes and functions are as follows

(1) Fill in the initial parameters

The entire intelligent setting process is operated for the display module. For the LED display, to be precise, it is to observe the first display module that enters from the signal cascade direction. That is, if the signal cascade direction is from left to right, the first display module refers to the display module in the upper left corner of the display; if the signal cascade direction is from right to left, the first display module refers to the upper right corner of the display That display module. In order to facilitate the observation, only one display module is used for setting in the general intelligent setting, and the display module is confirmed to be good and fault-free (including no abnormal rows or points displayed).
After selecting the display module, fill in the signal cascade direction, module width points, module height points, display type and other parameters, and then click “Next” to start smart configuration.

(2) Set OE polarity and data polarity

OE polarity and data polarity are extremely important parameters of the display. The OE polarity determines whether the display is on or not, and the data polarity determines whether the display is correct. If the OE polarity is incorrect, the LED display screen will not be lit, no matter what the data polarity is; if the data polarity is incorrect, the display is abnormal and it is all on. Therefore, the first task of smart configuration is to determine OE polarity and data polarity.

(3) Set the color

Send two colors of red and green separately. According to the displayed color, you can judge whether it is normal display or reverse red and green, reverse red and blue or reverse green and blue.

(4) Set the scanning method

For scanning mode, the judgment formula is: module height/number of lit lines = scanning mode. When designing, send the command to judge the scanning mode. According to the number of bright rows selected by the user, the scanning mode can be calculated by the formula. Since the scanning method is not determined, the data is output according to the high-denominator scanning method determined in the previous period, and the number of bright lines is capped as the module height parameter.

(5) Set the scan order

The LED display screen is actually displayed in the order of one point by one point, but it uses the delay characteristics of human vision to achieve the effect of updating the full-screen image display by quickly sending all the points of the full-screen image at a time. Therefore, before sending, The order of walking points must be determined.

(6) Set the line order

In addition to the order of the bright spots, the row order of the bright spots must be determined. In order to obtain the line order, one line can be sent at intervals of one second, each line sends a point, and then its position can be determined.

(7) Download parameters and complete smart configuration

After the above parameters are determined, reorganize the sequence and format according to the display data configuration format, and then download to the display configuration, and then observe whether it is correct. If it is correct, the smart configuration is completed. In addition, if necessary, you can save it to a file for later use; if it is not correct, analyze the reason, and then perform the smart configuration again.
