1. DIP package
DIP package, which is the abbreviation of dual inline-pin package, commonly known as plug-in display, is the first package model developed. The lamp bead is produced by the LED lamp bead packaging manufacturer, and then the LED module and display manufacturer inserts it into the LED PCB lamp board, and after wave soldering, the semi-outdoor module and outdoor waterproof module of DIP are produced.
In the early stage, the red, green and blue lights were inserted on the PCB to form an RGB pixel. In the later stage, the three RGB chips can be packaged in a single lamp bead, that is, a three-in-one outdoor full-color screen, which is relatively improved Improve production efficiency and production costs. However, whether single-lamp RGB or three-in-one RGB, the dot pitch is restricted by the diameter of the lamp beads. Currently, it can only be P6, and it is difficult to achieve higher-density outdoor full-color displays. The protection performance is good, but the viewing angle is not easy to fix accurately, generally between 100-110, so it is suitable for outdoor large-spacing display screens.
2. SMD package
SMD package is the abbreviation of Surface Mounted Devices, meaning: surface mount device, which is one of SMT (Surface Mount Technology in Chinese: surface mount technology) components.
Three-in-one is a kind of LED display SMD technology, which refers to the SMT lamp encapsulated with three different colors of RGB LED chip packaged in the same gel at a certain interval. Full-color LED display using three-in-one SMD technology The viewing angle of the whole screen is larger than that of DIP, and the surface can be treated with diffuse reflection, the effect obtained is not granular, and the color uniformity is good. In terms of color, three-in-one full-color light-separation is easier than three-in-one, and the color saturation is high. The three-in-one uses the entire surface to emit light, so the overall color of the three-in-one is more uniform. Three-in-one overall flatness is easier to control. It has always been the standard technology used in high-definition LED displays.
However, in the early stage of its development, the cost was very high due to the complicated manufacturing process and difficult maintenance, and it was generally used for small-pitch LED displays. In recent years, due to the rapid development of three-in-one technology and continuous improvement of production technology, a large number of automatic equipment is used, SMD has developed rapidly, and the cost has been reduced a lot. It is currently the mainstream product of indoor full-color LED display. And it has begun to penetrate into the outdoor display market, but brightness and outdoor waterproof, moisture-proof, dust-proof, anti-static, and anti-oxidation have always been an insurmountable gap.
